I became aware of Chanel when I was a pre-teen, about 12 years old. My first Chanel item was a small handbag I purchased when I was about 25 years old. Since then, I have bought Chanel-branded nail polish, necklaces, bracelets, rings, shoes, bags, sunglasses, and clothing.

I NEVER buy knockoffs. Copycats and knockoffs diminish the value of fashion. I believe in the spirit of a brand. An authentic Chanel is not a disposable item, like so many on the market. Couture becomes a vintage item and might increase in value. Chanel is classic. My daughter might want it!

I would wear it even without the logo. It’s not about showing the world I am wearing Chanel, it’s about the heritage of Coco Chanel and what it means to me. She was an independent woman who defined couture in her time and is still influential today. She is an inspiring woman.

I wore a Chanel dress on my 40th birthday. I am not sure anyone knew it was Chanel, but I did. I was able to pay for that dress with my own, hard-earned money. Wearing it made me proud; it meant I had gotten to a certain point in life.
